Off the Clock: Chess
Correspondence chess, deep analysis, and the community

Most of this site is about cybersecurity. This post is about chess instead, which is where a lot of my spare time goes.
Correspondence chess
I’m most invested in correspondence chess: the long-form version where a single game can run for weeks and you’re free to analyse a position as deeply as you like. That depth is exactly what I love about it. Instead of guessing under a clock, you can actually get to the bottom of a position.
Correspondence chess ยท ICCFI’m currently rated 2403 on ICCF, which puts me around 1010th in the world for correspondence chess.
What I enjoy most is the chance to further chess theory: analysing complex positions in real depth, testing ideas in openings and endgames, and adding a little to the shared understanding of them. The correspondence chess community is full of people who enjoy exploring the game in as much depth and detail as possible.
Faster games
When I want something quicker I also play bullet and blitz, where I’ve reached 2800 bullet on Chess.com and 2500+ blitz on Lichess.
